project 2 poems on power and conflict

Image
With in this project I decide I wanted to do poem as I did a mini project already and like how the was made, the poems I decide to do the theme on power and conflict as that topic was the most invoking topic I have looked in to. I chose there poem to illustrate for and this will be a double page spread having one side with my artwork and the other side will be the poem. The first poem I have done is called a poison tree by William Blake, the poem is about how anger was bottling up for a while until it spilled out and manifested in to a poison tree for it for to steal a poison apple to eat and die at the end. I stared with a mood board to get some ideas.   This was inspired by the apple form Snow White as that was such an iconic imagery and the first thing I thought of. Then I stared doing some thumbnail sketches trying different ideas of how the final illustration will be. The design I went for is the first sketch I made as it was very striking to me and I wanted to explore th...

Technical Session Adobe Illustrator

Image
Within this digital workshop we were touch on the basic of Adobe illustrator and leaning. What we learnd on useing different tools to recreate a pop art WOW, tole such as using gradient/pattens and the pen tool to make vectors and that was use to trace the pope art.  this was the end result on useing Adobe illustrator u can see my recreation of the pop art and on the other side you can see me testing out making patten be for this stars patten I made those striped patten in the wow text. This was an experience of trying g to lean this software as I had many difficulties doing this work and need to do more experiments in the future and I might see if the type of work would suit my main project in the future.

letterpress

Image
this was a workshop using the letter press the first time very interesting to do as we had to use very old technique to print letters on to paper to make books at the time. these were the ones we made as a group I use the press witch wasn't hard to do but see how it put together isn't easy they so may items to put together and very long process to do as well as making sure everything is very much perfect and nothing is very out of place this was a very intriguing way to press thing and never know this was a thing. I might even consider trying and use this for future project that need writing to it.

polymer plate

Image
With in this task we were set to make a black and white image to be turned in to a polymer plate. This is what I made for the plate this was mostly inspired by the artist Alexandra Olivia who is an illustrator, with her work being colourful and unique combing portraits with fantastical and contemporary elements. Here the sketch I did made and then the final version that was made in to the plate This is what the polymer plate looked like  I did a couple of print using different paper type and adding thing to the paper such as tissue paper to add colour as well using ink to colour one of the paper as to use as the background. This one was printed on the letterpress on cotton watercolour paper I really like the how it not sharp like it kinda has a faded looked to it as the paper was really textured. This is one of the tissue paper technique I did use it as a background colour this was also do with a letterpress. This is the one that I us...

rubber stamp

Image
Within this activity we need to care variety of items to use as stamps such as rubber, lino and foam This was with a regular eraser I just dod a simple design of grass as thsi was such a small scale, this is how it came out when stamping. I was just experimenting using gradient with the last one which i will explore later on but i do like how this came out i did realised when carving it that i wanted the grass to be coloured but with how small the eraser was i had to just crave out the grass bit to get this look instead which over all i di like how it came out. These two stamps was made from foam i wanted to try a relief type of print with these such as when they are cutr out the shape you want u can make indentation in them to make them have a pattern of sorts so I made a flower he'd and a leaf, this is how they turned out. I really like how the texture came out with these how easy it was to make but i did hav...

The illustration sketches I've produces and Future developments

Image
How I want to present the work is with a bunch of  character designs to help with the end goal of  making a  coupler of illustrations with text to them depicting from the  book either next to the illustration of on the back such as I  have this artbook of Moomins with each page can be taken  out and framed on the wall and what  they are  is  illustration of scenes with the paraphed on the back say from  their books, think as I have this type of format to look at and  do like how it was made I might make my final works look  like this book in futures developments. What  I have  done for now that  I will  developed further  are these sketches of illustration of event that happen in the  books. Most of these sketches are mainly showing of Alice falling  down the ribbit hole and her growing big in a room with her  eating something making her grow and her encounter of...

artist research for co creation project

Image
Chris Riddell His depiction of Alice in wonderland is more inspired by Alice Liddell he wanted to bring a more accrete take on what Alice should look like with short dark hair bob. I liked this version of Alice as this is kinda close to my take on Alice as I gave Alice a short unruly hair design but I keep my blond to the other depiction of Alice as it makes her more recognisable and I do like the style this artist have use very much suits their telling of Alice and might consider doing tradition works for my pieces.                                                      Willy Pogany In his work he made this Alice a flapper meaning she a young western women from the 1920s who wore a short bob and skirts and listen to jazz. This version is more fitted at the time this was released but I do enjoy the look of his work and is an nice depiction of Alice more un...
